Our Center was established in 2002 for the purpose of providing comprehensive help for pregnant women encountering negative attitude towards their pregnancy in their families. These women are usually said that the pregnancy has not been planned, is undesired, and must be aborted.
The main service of Center is a telephone help-line. Any woman having problems with her pregnancy and suffering from the question “to save or not to save” can call our number and Center's psychologists will help her to realize the family situation and encourage her desire to give birth to the baby. Many women and their relatives, so proactively protesting against the “unplanned pregnancy,” are usually not entirely aware of all abortion’s deleterious effects on a woman’s health. Our help-line specialists can give all the necessary information about it.
If a woman asking for our advice has some finance straits, which (as she very likely thinks) incline her to choose the answer “not to save,” Center will support her financially.
Besides, Center gives grants to single and disabled mothers, and also to large families having not enough money for all the necessary things.
But our help is not only financial: very often we give not money but baby cots, carriages and strollers, baby clothes and food. If it is needed, we can provide an appropriate medical examination or legal aid.
While working with families, we always remember about children being brought up in orphanages and also give them a material and psychological support. Center's members arrange many interesting things for the children—sports competitions, tours, visiting theaters, museums and art exhibitions. In summertime, children have a rest in summer villages, take part in camping trips. Center regularly buys them different clothes, foot-wear, books, stationery, toys, sports equipment, confectionery.
It is noteworthy that our social assistance is targeted, because this way of charity is sure to be the most effective.
In conclusion, we would like to say that despite our Center (and the whole Fund as well) addresses only some individual problems, the main goal of our work is far more significant. In the long run, all our efforts are being made for the sake of overcoming the todays crisis of family values.
We want everybody
not to shut their eyes to the problem but to work together.
Certainly, being considered on a national scale, the
scope of our activity is rather small, but we hope that our “strength
is made perfect in weakness,” and believe
that family will be the main value in our society, motherhood
become an honorable vocation, and children be rhymed
not with “burden” but with “joy.”
